Supporting a Culinary Concern with Tabasco
To showcase its commitment to preserving the culinary history of the South, Hunter PR recommended that McIlhenny Company team up with the Southern Foodways Alliance (SFA) to benefit hurricane-ravaged New Orleans’ culinary legacy by launching The New Orleans Table: Return and Recollect — a nationwide trio of events in New York, San Francisco and New Orleans that celebrated, supported and preserved the past, present and future of the Crescent City. At the heart of the events was New Orleans Eats, An Oral History Project, a continuous project that seeks to capture the stories of those who have devoted their lives to the food of New Orleans. The event series was kicked off in New Orleans to coincide with the one-year commemoration of Hurricane Katrina in August 2006, and then traveled to New York and San Francisco and was attended by top food editors, chefs and industry luminaries such as Alice Waters and Mario Batali. The events generated 82 stories (20 million impressions) and listings nationally and locally including coverage from the Associated Press and The New York Times.
